Products for Insulating Your Home
EPA House with Air Leaks ImageInsulating your home can break down into several main categories:

Insulation

Windows

Venting

We offer a range of products to help maximize your investment in these items.

The benefits include energy efficiency, saving you money on your monthly fuel and electric bills, reduction in noise pollution, and even removing harmful chemicals from your home.

Insulation

Insulation is rated according to its "r" value or "resistance" value - resistance to heat flow. A higher r-value means higher resistance to heat flow. The cost of insulation will increase based on the higher r-value, but you will also save on reduced ongoing energy costs.

Greenguard Product Emission Standard LogoWhen applicable, we use Greenguard Certified insulation products. This ensures that the Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) remains as high as possible and isn't impacted by emissions from the insulation products used.

We work with a variety of insulation brands, including CertainTeed, Johns Manville and Owens Corning.

We work with a variety of insulation formats and products, including blown in insulation, fiberglass insulation, rollout bat insulation, spray insulation, pipe insulation, cellulose insulation, foil insulation, board insulation, foam insulation sheets, pink insulation, wool insulation, soundproofing foam/ blown-in soundproofing and foam spray.

Our products are sourced in both the USA and abroad.

Thermal Barriers only works on existing residential properties - thus all of our efforts are to retrofit insulation into existing home structures.

Windows

Energy efficient windows are rated according to their "r" value or "resistance" value - resistance to heat flow. A higher r-value means higher resistance to heat flow. The cost of the window will increase based on the higher r-value, but you will also save on lost energy costs, with the less that goes out the window - literally.

We recommend several well-respected brands, including Andersen, Norco and Mercury Excelum (manufactured right here in CT).

Thermal Barriers only works on existing residential properties. All of our window products are for replacement, not new construction.

Venting

By installing soffit venting and gable venting, the interior air is brought to a consistent temperature with the exterior air. This prevents the melting of snow gathered on a roof and the creation of ice dams.

We source vents from highly regarded manufacturers, such as CertainTeed.
