Windows: Overview
Replacing your windows can be one of the easiest and most impactful ways to improve the energy efficiency of your home. It's noted that energy lost through your windows can account for 10% to 25% of your heating bill. And in Summer, the air you are paying to cool with the air conditioner is also escaping, as well as letting more heat in, requiring more work to cool the air in the first place.

Like other insulating products, windows are rated according to an "r" or "resistance" value - resistance to heat flow. The higher the r value, the greater the efficiency.
Most New England homes will have single-pane windows. It is recommended to replace them with new double-pane windows with high-performance glass (e.g., low-e or spectrally selective). The windows that are gas filled with low emissivity (low-e) coatings on the glass will help reduce heat loss. And with newer, more efficient windows, you can buy smaller, less expensive heating and cooling equipment.
We recommend several well-respected brands, including Andersen, Norco and Mercury Excelum (manufactured right here in CT).

Thermal Barriers only works on existing residential properties. All of our window products are for replacement, not new construction.
